So this is what the model S used to look like before when it was in U prototype stage and is a lot different than the production one. Look at that center console center screen. it's all different. The seats are different, the body is different, but some of this stuff is still the same.

All right. here's a model. Why? An exploded view Exploded view. That's the structural pack right there.

That's the thing that gets the uh, the the heat pump right there. The lights are on. Look at that something. he needs that I mean it's 800 horsepower.

Why do you need 800 horsepower? Like dude, this is awesome. That battery is small. He right though. look right, it looks small.

right? That battery is small. So which one is this one they don't tell you and how come we can't see the cells? Come on. Peterson Come on but look at those tiny little Motors I know right? I Can't believe how small that is. That's really small.

Now it's tiny. That's a tiny little motor now. Oh Michael's not here. We going to ask him they already got these.

Oh my. God You should walk Michael if they if they hack these already. If you hit a wall, a concrete wall at 35 M hour. Yeah you know people think they're fast.

Those tests are 35 35 M hour? Yeah yeah, it's nothing. This is what happens to you dude at 35 miles hour. Yeah, the scary thing is your feet are kind of in there. Yeah, but look, there's bags on.

Oh dude, they have a lot of stuff. This is probably where they screwed on some some uh, some sensor or something. but look at how many airbags? One two, three a foot airbag? Yeah. so your feet don't go and kick on the front.

but look at this. this never went past that point. Yeah, see how it crack and look? The thing. So this is a test drive on the new version.

This is not a test drive on the old version. This is theh yeah, this is it. It cracks. It looks like it's not strong, but I'm sure it's tense well, but it's supposed to crack cuz it's supposed to absorb all that stuff if it doesn't, If it's too rigid then you get all the damage you want to the flat, right? So right, cover.

Pop off. there you go and look at that. the glass didn't break. This is the only feature that I'm not into dude that's stronger than.

Oh yeah this is safer than uh yeah. but the sun does cook your head and also reverse. If you're in the winter and you you go skiing and you sleep in it, it's uh, it's all. it's all dripping on you like it's a reverse beer can.

so it's condensation so if you cold on the outside and hot on the inside it doesn't drip totally. but it's got It's got condensation. Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. I can see and you can't really see the stars so it's like you can't really see the stars.

cuz it's so it's yeah. I could do without it. Yeah, but it is safer. Yeah, actually the test prove it all the time.

Yeah, it's just way more rigid rigid. Yeah, cuz it's rigid because every other car has this tiny 20 gauge steel up there. That's true, right? right? And they have these structural beams that go. But as a whole, yeah, as a whole this is way more rigid and structural than all right.
So here's a perfect example of what the mega casting or the whatever they what do they call this uh, die casting right? Mega Cast or or I think it's a mega cast. This this how many parts it would take to make the front of the car and not just the outside, but like the inner structural parts of the car right when now they replaced it with a single part. You see that that that's one casting and that's what they're putting in here and then they glue it to the to the rest of the car right in the front and in the back over there. and this is the amount of parts that it replaces on the front and then in the back.

Also another equivalent of that. Yeah, pretty crazy huh? So like every one of those has to have and this is a structural pack. So okay so you have in a car you would have the the pack which is all right. 4680 This battery pack is really small.

it's probably about 75 Kow hours. uh very tightly. uh built in there. yeah those things are huge and then uh this is uh where all the electronics are the BMS and stuff and then um yeah these cars are very simple.

Okay so this is the D Zero. Yeah this is the car that started it. Oh for 10 Tesla Wow so this one had lead acid batteries on the doors. by the way.

no way. Yes see how the big? it's right here how thick it is. It's just a bunch of lit ass. You know that might have came out of an idea.

I Saw Bri was going to buy a a DC car from back in the day. It was a drag car and it had one seat super wide and you sat in between batteries like this. High yeah they put them in the Sills So this this the thing about these guys is that they this they this. they design a system that was AC right? Everybody else was using just regular DC motors with just a big you know swi guess it can't be the first time.

no no no but it's it was the first time that it was used in an Autom car and then they prove it and stuff. Yeah and it was a black box. I Don't think they designed this car right. they just used it or was this part of the thing.

uh I think this this is is their design. Yeah yeah and this is their platform to to Showcase this thing and I mean this thing went fast you know? Yeah cuz a little car is made out of car. had a trailer for the extra batteries. Yes Wow Yeah there's the lit acid batteries.

A trailer with a gas engine charger. Oh gas engine. oh it's a generator I Was thinking if they were doing endurance testing and they wanted to go further than the battery would I mean then they. It seems to negate the test if you're like telling a big engine.

Well they were developing the the controller and the motors. the AC AC AC induction Motors It was the first time that was used in a car. I think so right? There's only so much you can do in a Dyno I mean you can D test it forever. but it's not really world.
The thing about these guys is that they had a system in a black box and they nobody knew what was inside the Black Box it was. It was magic inside the black box. Okay so after this car right here they bought this uh Tech and then what they did they put this system into just a regular. Lotus El Leas this is a stock Lotus list that is that was converted by the Tesla Engineers into being electric and so this is a mule.

This is just the regular prototype. Dude, this is the mule. Yeah, this is the one this is. this is this is what started it all outside with the prote.

here's a motor and here's a black box but instead of black it's uh, you know, just gray. still a the Box Though we still don't know what's inside cuz it's locked, you got to put it somewhere. Yes, Oh's okay. So after they built this car and they proved that it was compelling, then they decided to change it up and make it custom, right? So this is the design.

uh, team's mockup or whatever. This is not clay. I I Don't know if it's Clay F I think this is Clay Roer Oh, this is the aerodynamic buck. So this car is made just to test aerodynamics on a wind tunnel and stuff.

So yeah, it's just it's not a true car. it's just they're testing the shape and then eventually they actually made it. Apparently 95% of the parts from this car are custom made. they're non.

Lotus Elise Even though they order bodies whole rollers from Lotus, they didn't end up using any of them right? So all these body parts and stuff look at this. This is crazy how big the gaps are. These didn't fit very well. So these were $100,000 cars when they came up and there's about 2,000 of them.

something like that. I Got to ride in one of these at fcon this car might be Zerial number one. This is the first production Tesla car ever That's pretty interesting huh? Now here's a really funny thing. I I Never thought I would see one of these packs in the in the museum here because this is the literally the pack that we started taking apart and we put on our bus.

So my bus was rolling around in battery packs that sells or modules that come out of this pack right here. Check out this thing. What this? These are the packs that we started taking apart like my bus is run around and sells from these w wow dude. 2008 that's when I started converting.

That was my first conversion right there. Okay Jesus Christ so I I still have 2008? Well, 2007 probably. Wow in my bus that came out of a pack like this. Dude: are you? You got like almost like you're part of this exhibit.

Well I never thought I would see this pack in the museum. Like wait. So let me understand this. Hold on.

Look, wait, what? What is this thing? This is the battery pack that we started and here's the Box the famous box box that nobody knew what was inside. All right. So if you ever wonder how a test a Testa battery cell is made, here it is. So this is.
uh, the roll inside. on one side of that is the cathode, on the other side is an anode and there's a plastic separator in between. So this design here has these little fingers here so those are positive and then the other ones over here are negative. and that's why they're different material materal because they have to be for the ions to to transfer right? But this this this is just rolled up and that becomes the cylindrical cell.

And the the thing uh, that is different about these is that they don't have a single wire connecting. The positive and the negative? they have just a bunch of them. like I Want to say hundreds of connections to both sides. So that means there's no termal limit, right? There's a much more solid connections connected to to the outside of the cell, so that means you can load it up without them getting heat up you don't have.

Yeah, the squeeze all that energy of the cell through a tiny little cable. Now it's just a bunch of cables like you know, and so that's why they can do that. Uh, also it says here that they were the Tesla initially targeting five times energy density I Don't think that's happened yet. I Think we're maybe like 15% I think right now so that hasn't happened.

Uh, six times more power delivery? That is true, and that is due to those things in here. but that's what's inside. a uh, basically like a high C rating. Yeah, super high C rating because you're literally connected right to the source, to every, to the long wall.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. to to the cath. these little fingers. Yeah, uhhuh, those little fingers.

That's the positive and that's the negative. And then you have a connection right there. It's like a few millimeters right to the cathode where before it had to go through the whole you know roll. Okay, and then at the very end, it just had like a little wire that was connecting to with a wire.

Yeah, with a wire connecting it from one edge of the Roll by the way. Yeah, one was in the center and one was in the outside. So that 18650 can you open it up and do it? Yeah, and that's how 186 are made and 217s are the same up later. That'd be cool.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, and you would get that, except without the little fingers or whatever and they're not going to be as long long. and cuz these are huge batteries. Look, they're the size of a not quite the size of a C can. but uh, you know, uh, maybe like a tin.

Yeah, between that, right, Like a small thing. here are now the cells inside of their casing. So those long strips in there just rolled up into this little canister and this canister is a new form factor. Nobody made cells.

Cylindrical cells is. Well, I Guess there are some that were made, but not in this specific size, right? Especially this chemistry. This is uh I think it's still Nmc right? Nickel metal? Whatever. There's like a few variations in the chemical composition of the thing, but essentially these are lithium ion cells.
the same thing that's in your iPhone the same thing that's in your computer, the same thing that are on 18650s and it just smaller amount of space in between cuz most of it's taken up inste smaller ones. Yeah so with the 18650s and 217s, you got way more of this canister material. but now it's because they're bigger that that's less you're you know, whatever. 20% less packaging material essentially And people always ask me like why is it a cylinder? Is it because it holds the compression right or is it cuz it's just easier pack easier packaging? Yeah, I think so.

uh there's not. This is not the only way to make batteries. You could also get that like long piece and then just roll it up like in a book form and that is a prismatic cell and that has actually will take uh will package easier NE Neer So you don't lose all that space between the cells in there, right? right? But there are some disadvantages because then again you would have to. They can separate the layers.

Can separate where this one is being constrained by the actual cylinder. Uh, where the other ones don't, right? You have these big line walls and they swell up. And when they swell up. you separate the cathode from the anode.

and so then that's when the problems begin, right? The battery becomes non-operable at that point. So there are benefits to having a cylindrical. But there are downsides. Like they're not the most efficiently way to to pack.

Yeah, so there's there's that space in every single cell. You see that little triangle there. There's nothing there. There could be cell and if you're trying to get the most energy density into pack, well you you would make a you know a triangle shaped battery and put it in there right? Uh, but even there like this, that's why this was in such revolutionary.

Design This is just a bigger battery. you remove about 10 10 to 15% I Think of packaging material, they're still being cooled only on the one side. right through that channel. That s little channel that goes there.

but yeah it's it's not. Other than the the the the current during delivery. That's about the only thing that's revolutionary about this. Wow this.

So all those cells going to here. and here's the crazy thing about this. It's just like a this is just like Volkswagen now oh really like cuz you know how the the pan Bolts from the bottom. this is that from the bottom and they have this new seal.

This is a new seal here but it's not in any of the other cars. Uh because literally this Bolts from the B bottom of the floor. just like a Volkswagen pan. Yeah yeah, this is the pan.

Your battery is your floor. Yes! So going back see some of the designs from 50 years ago. They're going back. So finally here's the Uh production.
the four car lineup and they here they are: Model S Model X uh, model 3 and model Y and then even the Roadster I Guess there's five cars now. Well and the truck I Guess it's six. Hear him talking about this joke. He's like it's the most.

So here's the thing. I Never realized that these Mega packs yeah are so giant. Look at up. Yeah, let me see.

record me standing next to it. look at how tall they are. Yeah that's big I Thought they were like this tall or something. No they're huge.

They're always in the parking lots. Yeah, these are these are the industrial ones. Like grid level stuff. you know these are huge.

The Chargers help out with the Chargers or is this just a huh? this is a 2019 Tesla mega pack 2. Oh you're doing such a good job. I'm just going to record you massive and here what you see is all the motors. This is the this is all the um, the motor sections.

Wait so what is this is the Plaid one? Then yeah, this top-of-the line plaid this is the front one because the rear one is two Motors or no, these are two Motors no, this is the real unit. It's got two. Motors This is a motor that's motored. uh, no diff.

oh really. no diff. just goes to reduction 10 whatever one right. and then it comes this way.

so this motor's shaft. Comes This Way Got two reductions. Yeah, yeah. left and right.

but these are essentially model 3 Motors Model y Motors Oh, interesting. just just wrapped. Just put two of them together and you know. small.

Drive Unit Here the the SUV The Aramoto. It's got no diff with two Motors Uh so my truck outside has this on front and back. No way. it's got a motor per wheel.

No diffs, No way. no yeah, no diffs cuz it's just connected. So this is the small Drive Unit 2015 on a Model S and X. So this would be in the front in those cars.

then this. This is the Large Drive Unit uh. used in a model SP 85. So this is a front motor for an S and this is the rear large unit.

This is the most commonly one on aftermarket conversions. This is. We're very familiar with this. We've taken them apart.

Uh, here's the classic uh oh yeah inverter where you have the three Mhm things. Oh cool weird looking thing there. Yeah, so that's for the for the cooling system you see. So yeah, have you have you read about that like so it has to create, um, like more surface area? No.

So the flow is. so there we go. We just started uh saying uh that the air like the water or liquid flow fluid flow has to be turbulent flow and not laminate flow to be able to efficiently cool. but that's what that is there.

And then on the motor jacket, it has it too. You see that. oh it's in there too. Yeah, you see how they cast the channels and see how they're different sizes.
that's for that. and then they just weld a plate that goes above it and see has the the welds cuz it would be hard to. Yeah, that's a hard thing to make. that's like a three.

So the difference between this motor. this motor is different than all the other ones here in this lineup. You know why? Uh, is it perf perent magnet versus AC Induction: Okay, and these are permanent magnet ones so there's a difference in there. Also, can you see it though? How do you see it? Uh no.

I don't think so. I Think the magnets are inside in the rotor? I Think yeah, some of them are on there. Okay, for you guys that are into audio, this is a essentially just a a giant audio amplifier. Yeah, but how giant is it? Well, it's 480,000 watt.

480 Kow So it runs at high voltage, 400 volts, 400 amps or something like that, right? God Oh yeah. Like how many? No, no it puts out more than 400 amps. It's like 1,000 amps. Yeah so 1,000 amps at 400 at 400 volts? that's 400 kilow.

Yeah! so so just massive massive audio amplifier. and here these guys start telling me that ,000 Watts Yeah 480 I think it's like this is a 480. Yeah Oh You mean the voltage is 480? No no the this a 4 480 kilowatt. Oh okay, yeah yeah yeah.

the T1000 yeah they had one last time I came here they had one. oh really cuz there was uh yeah. but I guess this is the next Generation T1000 uh Rich rebuilds would probably come in here and uh and geek out on this cuz he he didn't have this. wait that's like a YFC 450.

Oh yeah, and there's that little motor from the the the motorcycle that he used the zero I think it's a zero motorcycle or really yeah, but he put it way out here Tesla put it over there inside, right? Uh dude, you know what this is. Honestly, the frame from like a YFC 450 I Remember that? Yeah yeah yeah yeah. I think it's a they just modified one. yeah this is the frame.

It's a quad frame. Yeah and then they just kind of. You know that's cool all right. So here's the uh, here's the gate and uh, the ramp.

You could see that it's uh CNC mil. oh yeah m and then there's a that giant bed and here's I mean look at this though. Come on yeah, what are you going to do with that? Come on. How you got to bend that in there and then put screws.

You can't just have it end at there. no what? Not at the crease there. look at the mo the the buttons. oh yeah yeah, this is an early prototype.

this corner too. it's gonna be kind of hard I wasn't I wasn't touching it. Okay so this thing is massive. Like it's giant.

6 ft. now it's I I hadn't seen this angle. Look, this thing is massive. Obviously it would not fit on a regular garage right? so it's definitely not going to be.

why. Is too wide for now? Imagine trying to park this in the thing. Whoa. what happened here? Hi I don't I don't think so.

not your thing. you don't like this I I don't know. This is terrible I like it I don't like him I feel like it's functional. It's too out there.
it's like look at me. oh you know it's like too like look at me, look at me, look at my thing. Whoa. this is weird.

Oh because it's lowered cuz oh that's why it looks weird. Yeah yeah to the offload the thing. but uh I mean yeah it's yeah. it's in your face.

Here's a light bar. It is definitely not subtle I think this is a whole wiring system for a Tesla y or dude, there's not much wire in there. Well, I guess there is. But here's the high power stuff right? I Think this goes through.

Oh so the battery power comes out of the back. Oh those are some crazy wires going up to the charger. look because that has to power that has to carry 250 kilow yeah and then. but isn't it weird how they're They're bigger than the wires going to the front of the motor, charging harder than you drive.

Well cuz this is that was only going for half the drive. The other one's here, right? right? So that only has to do like 200 horsepower. So 150 Kow 200 Kow it's the same thing 200 Kow Yeah huh. but this one.

yeah, why is that so much bigger? I Know good question. All right. check it out. there's so much to cover.

I Don't even know what to say. Even the little kid cyber truck thing made it. They actually sold this I know someone bought one. Uh, but then they recall them.

Oh look, we have these motors at the EVC those are just little shitty. Motors DC Motors Oh yeah, they recalled it and got people got mad. Apparently these are dangerous or what? what was happening. People were getting hurt or something so they recalled them.

Uh, these were selling for how much I don't crazy amount. probably $2,000 Some crazy amount I think uh. apparently. Also there's uh.

underwear. Oh this. this is for the short shorts. The short shorts don't bet against Elon you will get the short shorts and then there's a tequila teslaquila.

This is a gal a Russell thing he cyber whistle. oh the Cyber whistle. Look at that. H apparently a surfboard too.

Yeah why not the Tesla surfboard? and they have a video game. Oh yeah oh no this are this is just a cockpit. Yeah you can plug in. oh you can plug in a USB controller.

Yeah so in every Tesla you have games. Wait so this is the this is the refresh the inside. Oh yeah for a Model S X and now you have the screen just like our threes but this is on the S Oh and there's a screen back here too and there's a screen there oh I I haven't as well. Oh and pop out windows and cut out so your head doesn't Bop the door and also no it won't Crush in yeah so you don't hit yourself in there.

That was the thing with all these cars cuz it's kind of. This is a Tucker one of like 50 or 60 or something that they made 51 but I think there's only 48 left. oh 48 left and it was 1948 is the Year date of manufactured and they did it all in like some hanger right? Like pretty much handbuilt. They didn't have like a yeah they're pretty much handbuilt and here's the famous 81 DeLorean Time machine.
Good one.

If you sleep in the car you will not have condensation. You put the car in 'camping mode' and leave the heatpump on. You'll be warm and the car stays dry inside. It costs less than 20% of charge even during a very cold night.
