So that's why we are here. uh and I thought hey, let me just go live It's been one to say maybe a couple years that I haven't been live? Does anybody in the Uh in the uh comments here remember back in the days he doesn't believe me. I'm telling you it's uh, it's it's allergies. it's allergies like I'm uh I don't smoke I don't Yeah, nothing against the smoking I actually wish maybe someday I will smoke but not I have never smoked.

So anyways, uh, it's been a long time and I come I'm kind of unprepared I used to believe it or not, it's not easy going live because you have to keep your the rhythm going and I used to do these for like three hours and you like 300 of you guys would show up and just like ask a bunch of questions and stuff I I'm I'm out of shape probably I'm not going to be able to keep this up. This is only going to go on for maybe 20 minutes or something cuz then I have to go.

Uh, did you guys saw my last video I know my channel has been weird lately I haven't had time to do anything that's creative and so I've just been doing like a bunch of like you know, uh, product pages and stuff and I see in the comments. a lot of you guys, some of you guys like it and you guys buy batteries and stuff and you're building stuff and a lot of you guys and some of you guys don't. you're like oh my God you used to be cool and I share that sentiment with you I used to make cool videos and I haven't been able to in a while and I don't like that about this thing.

I'm like what's going on here like I need to get back to that come to Amsterdam says Milton Bron I want to um am I going to next year? I'm going to travel but I don't think I'm gonna well there's a small chance that I might go to Europe I think but most likely it's going to be South America Um, but you never know I might end up going. You never know, Never say never. Templer says watching the Cyber junk reveal will be like watching tornado eat up an abandoned gas station from a safe distance. Oh, I see Tim Fuller is not a fan of the Cyber truck, you know? Um, I'm not a fan aesthetically of the Cyber truck.

but I don't think the Cyber truck is going to be a failure. Well let me see. I think it's going to be challenging In fact I think right now the team is scrambling I got someone someone told me this I don't know how true it is but out of the 30 trucks that they plan to deliver which by the way I thought it was more like 10. Uh, only three of them are functional.

So I think they're I think they're kind of close cu the event is on Thursday so they have tomorrow and that's it, right? and so it might be. It might be a complete care. Chos I don't know. you know it might be like when he when he announced the truck and it was a complete chaos because he TR trying to prove that was unbreakable and then he went and broke it on stage.

Yeah, I don't know it might be that and so you know I'm down for the shenanigans. so I'm going to be in Austin by the way, if you're in Austin hit me up. uh put it in the comments of this video. it's kind of a weird shape. I The DeLorean is the coolest car in the world. but I think the movie had to do a lot with it, right? And so because I I love the DeLorean and I'm like, well, you know it's like the same shape as flat boxes a thing. the dimension.

there is something cartoonia about the Cyber truck. but I think it's only weird until it's not until you get emotionally invested in the thing. and I think that's I think the Cyber truck is going to be the same for a lot of people. I think there's going to be some of us that will never, maybe fully embrace it.

but I think there's going to be some people that will 180 like they're going to be like oh my, God is the worst thing in the world and then after a few years on the road, you're going to be like, well, okay, I'm used to the shape. Okay, let's do the thing you know. then next thing you know they're probably going to be they're going to love it 30 Uh I heard 10 Yes I heard 10 Also, but from what this person told me is they had 30. So maybe they have backups because they know, uh that maybe they're not all going to be working.

but I mean they have so many prototypes running around, right? So I guess this not the same thing prototypes and then production? Vehicles right? Rivan truck has already proved itself on off-road and onroad.

Yes! although I do have some complaints now. I have combined between the R1t and the R R 1s I have 30,000 miles with Rivan and there are some things that are annoying. Uh. overall though, it's an amazing vehicle.

Uh, and the R1s is like my favorite obviously. uh, the truck I drive the truck and I'm like yeah, I'm kind of over it I like which? what else should I get? It's like it's weird. It's weird like these colors. the blue kind of dated itself really quickly for some reason.

I I thought it was the coolest thing when I first got it and now I'm like oh man I should have got another color but I don't know. that's just you know first world problems I Guess right? Uh, a friend has first gen leavea and then needs uh, battery replacement? Any suggestions? Uh no. I'm not into the leaf things, but I think there's a a ton of leaf batteries available now so you could replace them without actually having to like modify the thing. I I A lot of engineering stuff, how to make boxes, how to. it's like how to yeah, design things on the cheap and how to design things with the constraints from what's available to me.

All that stuff so it's not like I'm standing still like all that stuff is going to transfer over to these projects that I'm going to work and I think they're going to be pretty cool, but uh I just haven't really actually work I mean the the one that I have here I just have to go through the battery and see in what state it is cuz I kind of abandoned it last year and I haven't you know it's like oh I'm going to get it run this summer and I kind of didn't you know summer's over now and I'm like oh man I wish I had have done it. Uh, not too concerned about looks. same range as my model 3 bigger cabin for 150 more a month. I'll trade in there you go see there you go, who cares, but looks, it's a truck.

It's not supposed to look pretty, it's supposed to be. Although did you guys see that meme where the the ebikes are hanging off the back and then like they compareed to another little truck that has the three bikes in the bed. Uh, that went around for a while and it it was pretty crazy to see that right? Like so I yeah it's like is it going to be an actual truck? Is it going to be as useful or because of that shape is? you know it's not going to be as a I? it's a gimmicky or is an actual useful truck right? Uh, we' yet to see I guess um a friend has first gen Leaf Okay so I already did the thing right. but who wants to drive an electric car? a modern electric car? I Want to drive one of my Classics we got the EVC holiday parade this weekend says charge positive Oh yeah I'm not going to be in town sorry I'm going to be in Texas uh I'm yeah I'm going to be in Austin um if you're lucky, maybe you can scoop up all the overrun on production batteries that when it f dizzles out. Yeah, the only problem about Tesla is that they're not making very second life friendly battery mod modules now or battery packs. they're completely just yeah. they bake them into this thing like with foam and they're a nightmare to to work on.

so it's almost like once they're they're buil. That's it. Like if they go bad in there, but yeah I guess you know I guess if they don't go bad but then they're going to be massive. this massive bad so kind of don't fit in anything that's classic or cool.

maybe like big trucks or something. yeah uh, do you help people with their bus? EV conversions I've been known to help a few people, but generally no. I mean you know I have a long list of projects that I'm working on myself I don't have time for so usually I have to be very careful what I say yes to and you know I I I say no to most things. Unfortunately, that's just what I have to.

but I have I have done that to with a few people with a few projects I Just released the last video I just released was the one where we did that one for the TV show right? and I never actually made a video about it. So I've talked about it there and like thing or whatever. but uh finally I was like I need to make that video I have all the footage uh they're going to be at the LA Auto Show those cars are at the LA Auto Show right now by the way I don't know if you saw it but it's a we did a TV show. it was a build for Robert Downey Jr and uh we did that like I Want to say like last year and it took over a year to do that so you know took a long time.

So I couldn't really release the thing because of the Ndas and all that nonsense right? But finally you know the Project's done like the the TV show was shot edited. now it's been released, you can see it in HBO and then the cars are even. They're showing them at the LA at all show right now and you can buy tickets to win them or whatever. So I'm like okay it's done now I can I can share all the what, whatever, whatever, the bad, the behind the scenes thing right and so I just did and it's getting good good reception.

it's getting a lot of views really quickly and so people like the the project or whatever even though it's not the nicest car in the world I you know it's like I I don't know. It's like there's difference in taste right? and it's not my favorite bus. You know if if I had my choice to make that bus I would do it really different and but it wasn't it was I'm just helping them how to do the thing right? Uh last week so great to see you on the show. Adam Savage from MythBusters and Tested wants to do an electric car conversion. You two should collab Yes except they're in San Francisco aren't they? They're somewhere up there I mean I'm down uh Eagle Race says will you will we see a video on those sodium batteries I'm curious how long they can do 25c uh yes I will do a video if we have more cuz it's a small badge and kind.

We kind of put it up and I think they're all sold out or very near sold out. Um to tell you the truth I think they're not the greatest battery so there's a sodium ion, has a lot of promises and I think these fall short and in one particular one which is energy density. they're supposed to be almost as good as lithium iron phosphate, but they're these things are not. These things are so far off and I get it.

These are like first generation. the very first batteries that are coming out from that company, right? I Don't know if other companies are more advanced, they have more whatever. but uh I'm like man these things are huge. they're big and heavy and so yeah they can put out a lot of power.

they're supposed to have super long life. the the there's a bunch of benefits right? but so yeah I will make a video if we have more and from our supplier is saying that there will be more. uh but you know I've heard that before. You know we I've invested heavily invested in a product in a battery or whatever, made a bunch of products, and then we never got anymore and I'm like hey man, what? come on but things change.

You know that's the nature of this, you know, second life battery sourcing, you know kind of thing. Um, let's see, do you have any fanes about what would be the ultimate EV hot rod. Well I at times I've had uh yeah I've had fantasies about what I would build and what it. you know what it would do and all this other stuff.

but I think yeah I think the last one I had was in fact I don't like the Cyber truck but I I wouldn't fan sizing about making a cyber truck like Bill uh someone did a render out of the Cyber truck. you know they cars other cars being cyber cyber trucked which is applying the same Aesthetics right that this the like that the Cyber truck has but on other cars right? uh and even come up with some like new designs like what if the Cyber truck was not a truck but it was more like a race car like a little you know Mid Engine type of like sports car or whatever and I was like oh my God that's amazing I should build that you know and it's it. shouldn't be that hard because you know the the angles are just flat or whatever and I'm like I should build that and i' make a video probably get you know a few million views it will paid for itself I wanted to do that that was that was the last one that I did but I I never actually jumped in the the thing cuz kind of know how much work it is to do like a project like that. um and I've been busy.

um let's see where we're at. Do you own a petrol car? What's your favorite? No I don't at this point I don't and I haven't woo for 10 years now. Yeah I've been driving on electric for 10 years. Uh yeah, right now those rivan are my favorite.

These are I've always had like crappy cars. these are the first cars that are you know like luxury like high-end cars or whatever. These are pretty amazing. Um so I'm still not over them I'm still.

you know we've had one for a year and a half now and then the other one for 6 months. Um, before that we had a Tesla uh and then before that we had a bunch of hybrids. But for 10 years solid years we've been. Um, electric.

Ugly Bus show is over. What does that mean? Hey man. I have a 1972 West FIA if you're interested in buying it. 72 oh 72 is still within the 25 years.

which means they no longer needs uh to pass smog right? So so I wouldn't have to even let the TMV know. Uh, 72 is I think a a good year and West Valas are sought after. They have a lot of the modern, more modern stuff. The buses that I have are legit.

Like 50s technology right? So they have terrible suspensions. They have terrible kinds of things. They're really terrible cars. They are amazing iconic cars that are worth a lot of money.

If you you know, get them running and stuff. Um yeah uh. let me see. Love your hustle and that's just a lot coming from a guy who was President of the Optimism Club In Reform school? What optimism? President of the Optimism Club There's a club that wow that's I don't I have to think about that one.

So what do they do at the optimis in club? They just show people to be Optimist Uh, I'm an optimist? Well, I'm am I an optimist. Do I think more about positive things or negative things uh I think I'm in this in the middle I don't think I'm highly Optimist and I don't think I'm a pessimist I think I'm right in the middle. That's where that's where you need to be. like right in the middle.

Avoid the uh, the extremes there. oh my God look at all that someone's someone's in trouble right? You hear all the Sirens By the way, this is the first time I do a live this way like this. I'm using my phone and it's I hate the fact that is like this or whatever. but and then I'm monitoring then on my computer.

First time like that. It was really easy. actually. before it used to be this complicated thing where you have to set up the camera and the cable and the thing and then you have to put the key and all kinds of things and now they're They're making the the process a little bit streamlined and stuff and I'm liking cuz look right away I'm up and I'm talking.

no messing around. It took me longer to make that stupid thumbnail. uh I'm choosing something so I'm like should I put my face in the thumbnail or oh and by the way, how is that thumbnail going to be because that's horizontal but this is vertical I don't know. we have to see that.

uh, it was a Brazilian bus. Yeah, that was a Brazilian bus. It was the wrong bus if I had. if I was more involved.

by the way, all that stuff where they went and bought it stuff that happened before I was involved in that project so I had no say so. Oh but they did okay. that thing was so bad was one of the things I didn't mention in the video Jesus man this this a lot this. hopefully they're not coming through so loud.

Um okay when they redid that bus when they you know got it down to the metal. it was so bad that they considered scrapping it and just starting over with another bus. So they asked me hey, do you have a recommendation and I'm like yeah, get a split, get a this and I did send a few links to them of recommended buses that would have been so much better than that one right? uh now they ended up keeping it and then which is crazy because literally every panel of that bus was replaced so by the time they got done with it it was a different bus. It started as a Brazilian and by the end I don't know, Is it a Brazilian I Guess if if like 50% of the metal is like new metal now so it's like and by the way it's replaced with metal that is made to German specs right? So it's one of these weird things in the future, will you possibly make more detailed videos on how to do EV conversions? Um yeah I think I can I think the the problem with a lot of these things that I'm doing is um it's taking me so long that the products and stuff uh and what I'm doing.

it's a bit outdated at this point and so you know it's like making a detailed video takes a lot of work and so I have to be smart as to like what you know. there's got to be a payoff. And so if I dedicate months of like making this project and then months you know crafting a story and stuff so you can get views you're like, well it's got to be something that people can recreate. That's always been my thing by the way.

uh I don't want to just tell a story, uh just for the sake of telling a story and then getting views I'm not really after the views you know after at my age now I'm like yeah, whatever I I'm not. you know, like here to be famous kind of thing. but it's so I do want to help people and so I'm like. that's why I I always don't want to talk about like stuff that is that you like as an audience can't recreate and do right because I feel accomplished when I say look at what I did and then here's how you do it and then I get the pictures and I get the feedback back from people and Say look I we just recreated did we made it better That's even better you know and so you know I do have a certain requirements.

Uh when I do a project take a project you know and one of them is that it's like it's got to be like a thing that's achievable. it's not. That's why you don't. You know you don't see me like talking too much about like hyper cars or expensive car, even my Rivan.

it's never re I have a couple videos about it my channel and I'm like I don't really want to talk about this is out of the reach of like most Americans and you know most of my audience probably can't get it. so I'm like I don't want to feel like you know this is not. This is me right now I can I can I am fortunate enough to be able to use that or whatever but you know it's like I want to help people like me like people that are me. five years ago when I'm struggling when I don't have money and I'm trying to figure things how to get it right and so that's why I kind of do do those sort of things.

So yeah, probably once I start getting into the Tesla swapping stuff I'll probably do a detailed video because also kind of becomes more simple. you don't have to figure a bunch of things now. there's like other companies that You can that that figure a lot of the stuff. uh but for right now yeah all my projects that are pending projects are going to be this old stuff that is kind of obsolete already and I'm I'm going to do it because I got it for like nothing I bought those like super super cheap and so you know I'm not going to waste them.

that's my thing. Like you got to reuse right. Find ways to like. You know, stay, stay clean and stay.

You know not not be wasteful and stuff. So um 25c says charge positive 25c Yeah there's some batteries that are 25c I don't know which ones editing micro electric cars what would you have done differently if it was your own bus? uh the RDJ bus. oh I mean I would so I would have chose a different bus to begin with. I mean there's nothing wrong with that bus.

but and I wouldn't have styled it the way they did. uh you know they they got this like suspension that it's the best one that you can get in the industry right? and so that guy makes in fact I have those. CU I Just bought a couple of those suspensions for my buses but that that guy goes to the trouble of like designing and it's been doing that for 20 30 years or something and so he's got these cool air ride suspensions that you know you could. You could.

have the card look cool but you could also like have it be functional and stuff and so what happens is that used that but they didn't actually get the benefit of it because the the car is like you know, full, the height stuck um and so it doesn't look cool. those Wheels I didn't really like those wheels that color scheme I really like that color scheme they took the you know, they changed the bumpers, they made them like the uh European style and I'm like, well that's not I wouldn't have done that. Um, there's a bunch of aesthetic things right? like that car I don't know any of those cars. by the way, the the matte finish the wraps I don't know any wraps that actually look cool.

they're just kind of like weird to me. I guess maybe that's like me that I'm old or something because I think a lot of the young people are into those RS and so it seems like they embrace them but like to me I'm like they don't look cool. uh and and and by the way, like those of you guys who went to the LA Auto Show there was two big actors that had cars there and one was Robert down Jr and the other one was uh oh man who was the other guy. There's another actor that had another set of uh cars there and he got a full room and I'm like and then he got a lot more.

uh well he got more like they were announcing it more that to to go see this other guy's cars right? and then once you go into the into the that thing is like oh these cars are pretty like they're high-end They have like these Immaculate paint jobs they're like yeah okay that's why that's why they got more promotion instead of the Robert down Jor because look at the Robert down jors I'm like they look Robert down Jor is not a car guy I mean you know he owns cars because he's like a multi-millionaire but like he doesn't he doesn't know it's cool. or at least I don't know. at least car culture doesn't agree with him about what's cool. so I would I yeah I would do a bunch of different things on it.

um fit four Motors on it this wi through micro computer. what is this? um how about a body swap I notice a short Astro band would probably fit on a leaf underbody. uh yeah, you could definitely do that. Now the only thing I would suggest is you really really have to to like Asro fantasy cuz it's a lot of work to do it.

I mean to do it proper if you just want to do like some build and throw things together you know with welds and just you know, janky or whatever. Yeah, go for it. I've seen a lot of builds that are cool just to watch uh but it doesn't make like a very compelling car right? like and so uh yeah. you really have to be into those two cars that you're going to or the final product because then you know you're going to put a bunch of work into a car that you're like H maybe? uh he is completely reform.

rest in peace. Jack Rickard Yes Jack Rickard uh by the way, they had another. Jack Ricker By those of you who don't know, he's a Pioneer He started this movement a long time ago. He was this rich guy that started buying batteries and converting cars like I don't know 10 15 years ago and he would make these long long videos and they were very like detailed.

He would really like go down like into the rabbit hole and like just into the Weeds about how how to convert cars and stuff and you know yeah we we we all learn a lot from him. uh and he he passed away recently last year sometime and he used to do the shows. he used to do the Evons and you know what's the crazy thing I only went to one but that one. Almost every single person that was in attendance of that thing now is in the industry.

It's like they they have companies, They have things they're making products they're making like yeah, so it's like it. It's it's a cool way to get these people that are going to be you know, key players in a future industry and he knew that. you know I was too dumb in the in that those days to know anything but he knew that and so yeah he was doing that. You should make it a kit for the type twos.

Yeah I think I will make a kid. The problem is getting the batteries. The thing is that because of the reason where I deal with, there's uh, not a long supply of batteries and so if I'm going to devote a lot of time and effort designing and Engineering like a a kit, well you know it's like it's going to be for a battery that there's that you can get. You know two years after I finished the thing or three years you know, like the the batteries that we're getting right now is like small batches and that's problematic because then it's like by the time I'm like designing a thing and then you know I publish a video and I'm like oh, where are the batteries oh they're all gone so that's been problematic Now all that's work just goes down the drain.

Yeah yeah so I think what happens is that they've had a rough life in Brazil and then they had you know a lot of times they have shoty work work in Brazil to just bring them back and so what what happens is that they they're importing a bunch of these buses because the Germans are so sought after and so highly priced and so now you get a you get all these buses coming from Brazil that look okay but then once you look deeper you're like oh my God these are all just full Bondo and oh my God they Ed and I all some sometimes not Bondo sometimes it's like oh my God why does it have fiberglass all over the place? You know and you're like they replace Ted with like fiberglass so come on. So yeah there's a lot of shoty work that goes in there but people don't know right? They just want a bus and they they're willing to. They're like oh my God it's $30,000 for a fully paint painted running bus. You're like yeah and then you take it home and you're like oh my God it's a nightmare.

It's about football about a coach that it doesn't. um that is trying to figure life out and he gets the worst team in the world soccer team and it's uh, it's from an island oh my God I'm drawing a blank here I don't know the island um new Zeal but it's not New Zealand but the guy is New Zealand there and I use quite a bit of like uh I think actors that are from New Zealand you still have the flexy solar panel strips I do but I took them down because I move and so I have my garage and I actually have quite a bit of them I want to say I want to have like 25 of those panels so that it equals out to be like maybe 10 kilow of solar like and I'm like oh, I'm going to use these you know but I they're just stored right now and I I don't own own my home yet uh I just life hasn't you know things I haven't been able to get arrange things so that I can buy a property in the US here in California I don't even know if I want to buy in California but uh, that's why I'm restricted as to like what I can do right and so I have a bunch of these properties that are rentals and stuff and so I could you know I have limited access to what I could do and and yeah, not a lot of solar.

So that's why I don't do a lot of solar but that it lets me to like really dig into the batteries right? So I've been focusing to the batteries now for few years and you know there's pros and cons to that. Uh Power System Let's see I've seen his shows and sorry to hear his passing I enjoy his shows as much as yours. Recommendations for: Reliable Single Person: Transportation Single Well I mean scooter or an an Ebike. The ebikes are great right? Um, or a motorcycle.

you know, scooters. Electric scooters. Those are great if you need to travel. depends on how far you have to go.

It's I want to say in the design it's in the same category as that I would put as a a a cyber truck but the Cyber truck is has more chances of actually becoming it has you know, a huge company behind it and so it probably will become a mass. Market product where up? Tera my I don't know if it's going to make it.

Uh, it was the same thing as Solo literally. Last year I took a test drive on a solo car that's a tiny little car that had two doors. Uh, that's the one that all these motors came from. So I bought their Motors because they decided to change.

uh, well, less than a year from them being at the AL a show and giving out test drives. By the way, I never uploaded that test drive I had so much footage I still record everything that I do um and I just don't I haven't been, you know, been able to edit stuff but maybe one day I will and we I'll talk about this because uh, less than a year after that they announced that they were going under right? So they put millions and millions of dollars this thing. but at at the end of the day it's a weird little car that nobody wants to drive and so you know they just couldn't really go into production and they tried they were. They were producing them in in Canada I think yeah, they were producing them in Canada then they outsourced the stuff to China then they're producing them in China to cut cost to to increase margins or what and they just you know just didn't didn't work.

so I I don't know I hope that a tera is not that way but I it's I don't see it becoming a mass Market vehicle in and it's going to be really tough for them to you know, keep getting funded. uh as a little weird science project kind of thing. You know there's cool science coming out because the efficiency is great in both the dynamic you know, the the aerodynamic design and stuff and then the motors and the batteries and stuff. but I don't know I have a feeling that it's not going to make it.

Uh yeah. so I'm sorry, that's just you know I don't know without knowing too much. I'm just like ah I don't get the right feel. Just got uh, an L60f battery for the sound system and my wife's car I hope I am still able to get them at the same price by the time I get my big Suburan sound system.

Uh yeah. I wouldn't wait too long because there's not like an unlimited Supply to those and uh, I'm not the only one that's moving those. uh, this our supply. My supplier kind of gave out uh, parts of that load to my competitors and so at least there's at least two other people that are moving those.

I don't know how successful they are at moving them. Uh, but there's not unlimited. so yeah? I I don't know? yeah I don't know if they'll be available in the next six months I think probably all will be sold in the next six months. so I wouldn't wait too long to get them I just just which, just buy one and just leave it in the in the Shelf there because yeah, they might be those.

By the way, those batteries are really cool. They're really capable for that use there. Uh, and so yeah. usually you'd have to pay a lot more for the for that for that.
