The instructions say you CAN NOT use it to charge the battery and Everyone says they'll blow up if you do.

7) Why not use Supercapacitors?
A. Batteries work better at this time, caps are rare and expensive devices that are very good at doing things not needed for storage systems typically.

i wouldnt be mad if i had a piece of history.. this one is for sure
How is the aluminum part attached to the MOSFETs isolated from the blue heat sink? I see no isolation, so the battery voltage is directly in contact with the heat sink ??
I wonder if this voids the warranty…

Great video I wish I watched it befor I bought one of them now I goto run another wire for the charge side of things witch is probably a good idea anyway
This guy is not very bright
I m not a Victron lover but I know a bit of it and was laughing so hard with this video your info about you needing 2 is so wrong. but thanks for make me laugh
LOL… A proper review! ๐
Literally just returned all 6 of the 200A ones I just bought. Getting 6 Blue Sea Systems 200A circuit breakers. those things is incompatible with their own inverters… bummer.
Lol returning for a full refund!
Two things:
1) Unless your battery charger is an idiot, why would you need to protect your battery from your charger using this device? Bypass this device with the charger.
2) I'm not an electrical engineer, but I don't think Victron is simply trying to sell you more stuff. The main component in this device (the thing that actually cuts the current) is a solid state switch rather than an old-fashioned solenoid switch. Unlike a solenoid switch (which has moving parts), you'll wreck this solid state switch if you try to feed current the wrong way through it. That's my understanding, anyway. For me, it's a worthwhile compromise.
hELLO ! Please, is it necessary (and why) to put a "victron energy battery protect" ๐๐ฎ๐ฎ like I got a good BMS on my battery ? It seems to do a similar job, no ? Thank you. (perhaps have you got also a better idea. Thanks)
I don't understand the purpose of this device when the battery's management system is supposed to protect the battery?
