i might be wrong but for a laptop, it probably has the same amount of charge cycle too

lets say a company laptop that used daily
chaged twice a day that lasting for 4 years

    2 x 365 x 4 (cycle x days in a year x year)

    equals to 2,920 cycles
some laptop battery only last about 1 year
its all depend on manufacturer's budget
if they want to sell their product for cheap, they will cut cost in everything
and its a trend nowadays that manufacturer designed their product just to last for a specific time so people are forced to buy a new one

I think, the Software and the BMS Hardware initially "reserve" ( hide ) a small portion of the Battery Bank's actual capacity. Maybe initially, it shows 80% SOC as "FULL" and 20% SOC as "EMPTY". Then as the capacity of the battery shrinks, the upper voltage is increased to 81% SOC and the lower voltage is decreased to 19% SOC, therefore the apparent capacity did not shrink very much at all … then 82% & 18% … then 83% and 17% … then 84% & 16%, and so on. The user is seeing a very small decrease in battery capacity, but in reality the software is just adjusting the "FULL" and "EMPTY" voltages as the capacity of battery bank shrinks over time. This can result in many, many cycles, until you have a hard failure … short circuit or open circuit in the battery pack

Bro man great fn. job on the data. Data rules Bullshit walks. Thanks for all your videos man your awesome for doing it. Thank you . Fell asleep many times watching

so is that applied for all batteries i mean other cars batteries like KIA SOUL EV it has 65KWh battery ??

if this isnt a case for tesla i dont know what is…wow. and the batteries going out doesnt mean youre going to get rid of the entire vehicle…you can just switch the battery pack…whereas with a dinosaur powered engine, when that thing is done (and we find it impressive when those things get more than 200k miles), you just gotta throw the whole damn thing away…..i mean, am i wrong?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hung Tran says:

Remember that Panasonic (Sanyo) yield best quality therefore it gives highest cycles
also they are temp control and well kept under Tesla designed

What do you think about calendar life degradation rates? There is a relationship between the average SoC and the residual capacity over time, even without significant cycling the batteries. Temperature and the percent of time at 100% SoC are probably the main cause of degradation in laptop batteries.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terje Oseberg says:

How long the batteries last depends more on how much time the batteries spend fully charged, and the temperature while at that charge. At 50% charge and 25 degrees Celsius the batteries are supposed to degrade only 1% per year. 50% charge is somewhere between 3.7 and 3.8 volts.

Is it only the batteries specifically for Tesla that get 3000+ cycles or the Panasonic/Sanyo labeled cells too?

Refurbished ex car batteries are being used to create home battery storage systems after eight years of car use. They go on forever, it would seem. Compare this to ICE lifespan.
