fantastic it was only last week i was thinking about this you could have altinaters in a small wind tunnel throwing charge into your battery's as you are driving cheers robin

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tina Rawlins says:

You need to update this video

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LoveStories says:

Do Ev car have reverse gear which is made by kits

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gery King says:

But what about the amorphous solar panel,,,,???

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars X G says:

I'd like to see an update to this video now that solar panels are both increasing in efficiency and lowering in cost. As well as the fact that there are some awesome aesthetic improvements in the last couple of years.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tex Mex says:

It's a great video. You did not mention that the panels and controllers would add weight and air resistance, reducing the range of the car. So some or all of the additional 11 miles would be lost. And you could take those same panels, install them at your house and reduce your energy bill there, including the bill to charge your car. And I agree it would not look the same, would not be the same car.

So you are saying – If I had the money I would rather invest it in more batteries than solar cells? Your calculations missed the sides of the bus, and you might see it different if you were into camping in the wild, because then you could have all the power and after a few days still drive off with a fully charged ev! I am even calculating what the effects would be to convert a school bus into a solar powered ev – type of off grid home to drop out of society and drive to the next camp every few day, while carrying some e-bikes for the local exploration…

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeff Wallace says:

I hope somebody will see Jehu's "no" as a challenge and build a solar eSamba! My favorite reason J gives for not adding solar? It's ugly! You are killing me.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pancho Pantera says:

Ok the diference is free watts vs pay watts peni save is peni earn.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pyronmasters says:

Do you have an emergency battery for lights in case you get stranded at night? I mean can you use a solar panel and a 200+ watt battery apart just for lights reserving the rest just for the motor?

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shawn Huetter says:

To solely run off solar at this point in time isn't worth it… but why not place a panel or two on the roof to charge the battery to when your out away from you charge station? say you need to take a 15 mile drive, your batteries are good for 18mi, you wont be able to get back if they dont have a charge station; but if you had a few panels on your roof, youd be able to get some juice back in them to get you back home.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Anirudha Kadam says:

How much weight can you motor handle? Like for avg scale to max scale

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Anirudha Kadam says:

I guess u should go for solar panels. Samba's roof can be useful and if u installed SP's u can keep saving some money untill they wornout or destroyed. And 11 free miles a day for along time is not a bad choice.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Calderon says:

    my question was anserd

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars asc556 says:

Another think is that you always have to leave your ev in a sunny place and that could make it hot and also sun degrade a lot of things as the paint and interior. I think that if you got the money is a lot more convenient put the solar panels in the house roof with a battery pack and a charger for the Ev. And if that is too expensive, solar panel plus tie grid inverter.
    Thanks for the videos Jehu.
And sorry if my english is not the best.
