Hey Jehu, I have a totally impractical (but hopefully fun) question for you:
What's the maximum possible range you could build into a DIY EV with today's technology?
I know it depends on the specs of all the components, but theoretically, if you were able to max out ALL the specs and price were no object…
Regardless of engine size, as you increase battery capacity you'll approach a peak range where the battery becomes heavy enough that its weight more than offsets its own extra capacity, right? So how far can you pump the specs before it's no longer worth it to keep adding more batteries? Is it possible to build an EV that could drive coast to coast on a single charge? Or would the energy density of today's cells just not tolerate that?
For kicks, let's say it's fair game to include a towable battery extension of whatever size and weight the vehicle can handle. Just for the heck of it, let's say solar panels are fair game too. I know solar would be a tiny percentage of the action no matter how you slice it, but if the trailer is large enough then you might pull a few kW off the extra surface area, which could make a difference of maybe dozens of miles for a long trip. If you were going for a Guinness record, I figure you'd want to go all in like that.
I didn't even finish watching – my wife has used Warby Parker for years. THEY ARE AWESOME. Prices are very good, selection is fantastic, and they stand behind their products and service without fail. I mean you don't have to go into detail – if you call with a problem, they want it solved immediately. And they just do it. Fantastic.
Also, I believe that every pair of glasses we've bought – they also send a pair overseas for those in need? Something like that.
I would highly recommend. If you have the opportunity to endorse / support them? Hellzyea – upvote from here man.
RealD 3D Glasses would be way cheaper and you still get to look cool. I got my pair.
Please don't stop making these videos, even though we are barely friends, I feel like you are a part of my life and I genuinely care about your everyday life. Keep up the good work !
Don't bother with the Aviator style. The others, well, let the viewers speak.
