7) Why not use Supercapacitors?
A. Batteries work better at this time, caps are rare and expensive devices that are very good at doing things not needed for storage systems typically.

pff thats nothing my trike has 4.5 kwh battery…weight is 35kg…built from recycled cells

how can I add battery to this product externally?

The 25% loss you experienced maybe to do with the conversion efficiency of the battery. Typically inverters would be 85%+ efficient. At 800W you would have been drawing 55A from the batteries, or about 18A from each cell. I'd suggest running the test again at 100W and see if you get more energy from it.

The small milliohm range resistors are for balancing any differences in the "on" resistance of the MOSFETs. They'll drop slightly different voltages and allow the lowest resistance MOSFET some leeway and not blow it up by taking all the current.

I'm looking for guidance or suggestions about how I could harvest the LifePO4 cells from an EB150 I got that died. I received a replacement from the vendor, but was disappointed that I couldn't get additional insight about what I might try to revive it (they ultimately guessed it was the inverter board).

It seems incredibly wasteful (and not easy to do appropriately) to just toss this unit with what I can only assume is a healthy battery with plenty of life left. I just want to SAFELY get the cells out and put them in a standard deep cycle style case with terminals that I can then connect to an external inverter.

    Any thoughts?

Until these products get much better they will not be on my list of things to buy. Even the manufacturers website shows them with DONT use with a Kettle, AC, Hair drier etc… 1Kw is a little too small. These need to be at least 1.5Kw so we don't have to replace all our appliances with low wattage replacements. Plus their too expensive. However its not becasue they start out expensive becasue I contacted the Factory PowerOak and they sell these for $650 however the import tax and shipping is almost another $650 !! hence the silly price.

    Meh, mine's better. 2.5kwh + 2000W inverter inside an Apache 4800 Case.

The problem is the cost. Its cheaper to build one. I need it for medical uses and worry about power outage I did buy a 4500 gas generator but that requires me going out and my oxygen dont always let me do that so I need a cleaner way. In the house. The only think about these is the bigger ones to do what I need cost too much for me. I would love plug and play. But cost is not a think I can deal with

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Riggen says:

I got one a few weeks ago, it died with less than 24 hours of use. The seller sent a replacement, and said to just "responsibly dispose of it" but I want to know if it's possible/advisable to "harvest" the batteries to convert to a standalone deep cycle battery. It would be a colossal shame to ditch the whole package just because of a failed component. I wasn't given any troubleshooting suggestions, so aside from randomly pushing buttons and trying to get it to power up with a different charger, I haven't attempted anything else.

Probably resistors to reduce imbalance or parasitic oscillation of parallel mosfets.
