I find myself this week in las vegas nevada for this annual sema convention, and i came upon this all right. Let's talk about las vegas convention center. This building here was in here two years ago. This complex of buildings is getting so massive that now it's getting hard to get from one place to the other, and so therefore they're starting to use kind of different ways.

Ingenious ways i would say, to get people to move people from one side of this complex to the other. This is called the las vegas loop. It is a close circuit street that is only available for tesla cars and they carry passengers from this side of the convention center to the other side of the convention center, which is about a mile down the road right. So there are so many naysayers.

I saw a whole video by thunderfood who debunks a bunch of these projects, whether they need to be debunked or not, and he debunked this one said it would never work, but the that it was full of problems and it was just a joke. Well, this thing is not working so much that las vegas has now ordered another one that will extend the entire length of the las vegas strip right. This is so successful. It is helping with traffic.

It's moving all these people from one side to the other side where they need to go that now. They're gon na do this, but the entire length, which is, i don't know something like 10 miles - seven at 10 miles. Something like that. I would estimate on the top of my head.

This is a real thing. It's happening, there's a ton. I think there's like 75 of these teslas, from where i uh to top my head reading and they're carrying people in las vegas right now, crazy idea that people say would not work here. It is working now.

My schedule was very, very tight. While i was at las vegas, so i didn't have a chance to ride the tesla loop, but the following video gives you an idea of the typical ride. Experience. Can i pick any car, i'm heading west? Yes, absolutely when one comes up that one right there? Okay, oh wow, it says push hello how's it going good.

My name is my first time down here. Do i need to put a seatbelt on all right, you're, probably getting a lot of people filming and uh? This is this. Is me right? This is really neat. So you are driving the vehicle is not driving itself yeah, i'm driving right now.

Okay, it's not self-driving, though right, it's not self-driving! So if you wanted to turn right and scrape the wall, you could okay. Okay, you know i've seen the videos, but actually doing it myself like this. It's it's incredible. It's very um, it's very different.

It's very surreal yeah! This is very science fiction, very blade. Runner um was the cyber truck in this tunnel. Oh wish didn't didn't. Um jay leno drive it through one of these channels.

Was it this one? Oh, it was the test one in california. Maybe that's what it was might have been: california, okay, it's probably the california. This one is fairly new and then we are at the surface, look at that look at the panoramic roof. Folks, oh this is cool! Oh and that's it! Oh! That was fast.
So it's like that that was fast. The las vegas convention center loop is part thrill ride, part light and sound show, but mostly just a commute across a sprawling convention center. If there's a show going on and you've got a lot of traffic in the convention center, it can be a 45 minute walk from one end to the other. The loop gets you there in less than two minutes: here's how it works.

You enter the station and call for a tesla. The system operates like an uber or a lift where you have an app on your phone. You say i'm here i want to go there. Car comes up has an identifier on it that matches with what is on the app on your phone.

Passengers. Don't have to make multiple stops, because there are multiple exits. You go directly to your station of choice. The convention center has three, but plans are in the works to build a loop system city wide.

I'm looking right now i mean there's the ferris wheel, there's the new sphere under construction. The stadium is out there somewhere waiting to be used. Are you saying that, eventually, this loop is going to connect people from the airport to downtown to the stadium and everywhere in between it will, and that eventually, is not that far away construction on this loop was completed in two years for a cost of less than 53 million dollars, including the stations it's designed to handle 4 400 people an hour with 62 cars right now with drivers, but soon they'll be autonomous and what happens in vegas likely won't stay in vegas any place that has congestion issues needs to move people and really Can't just keep expanding roadways is going to want to look at a system like this, because it really makes a difference back we're heading north, all right how you doing i'm pretty good at yourself. Excellent! Do we know if it's been approved for the rest of the city um, because the goal was hit? Wasn't the actual 4 000 passenger goal? Oh recent yeah per hour, or something like that? Oh yeah, it's uh! It was at 4, 400.

um. I we just uh. We had just done some more testing a couple weeks ago. Uh, you know, i never got the numbers on that, but i'm pretty sure it was bumped up a little bit, but we've also found out that we can actually run more than you know 62.

So here in the next couple weeks, we'll we'll have probably a little bit of a higher number on that, but they did uh. I know they just broke ground uh about two weeks ago, uh by the west station, where i picked you up for uh resorts all world hold on one. Second, that's: okay. Anyway, there they uh.

I don't know that the airport's been approved yet, but uh uh. It looks like uh, i know for sure at least resorts world, so it looks like the the strip is next, so this is south station here on the left, there's the cutter head and we are back at central station. Thank you so much. This is awesome for sure, open your door you'll hit that button on the handle you want to exit towards the front of the vehicle.
Thank you for riding the loop and have a very risky day.

Too bad it's not run using hydrogen.

These batteries all typically use the grid to recharge them.
Yes small scale people might be able to generate enough juice from solar wind however who has the required capital or space to install a system to recharge a typical Tesla.

Besides a dark winter is coming and I'll love to see these electron heads piss themselves when they can't charge their green cars using the grid, which uses coal predominantly to power the world's grids.

If its just running in loops and not for drivers, it should be a small subway instead. No fancy cars who can carry 3 peoples at time.Doesnt make sence if its only for a closed loop transportation.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Fowler says:

It's amazing. It's like mass transit without the mass or the transit part. It's a glorified airport shuttle system. We've had actual underground mass transit for over 100 years. It's called a subway. Anyone who thinks this is the solution to congestion is smoking with Musk and Rogan.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Y T says:

This is extremely inefficient but the cool factor is there. I imagine a bike ride or an electric scooter is much faster and safer and a way more people can transit at the same time

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Der Rahm says:

So, you're not riding your own car. You have to go very slowly (today at least)…
At this stage I cannot see any advantage over something with rails.

I don't really see the point. This is really the most american way, to build a Metro…

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robin Jacobs says:

As an attraction it works, as a transport system it's one of the most ridiculous things ever made.
4400 p/h is laughable on the total number of attendees, a simple metro would be able to transport 30,000 p/h, doesn't need dozens of drivers to operate (if any) and won't ever scrape the wall.
and no, a metro doesn't necessarily need "expensive" rails (metros in Paris for example have tires)

This is a really good video to keep you really informed on how your TSLA stocks are going that's if you've got any, but from the way things are progressing I still think we'd make more profits investing in crypto currency

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ren shino says:

Thunder foot has it right this is basically a taxi system not worth the time I mean their using their own cars and drivers how does this help with traffic in any meaningful way

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars calholli says:

You can't ignore the disappointment in it not being automated– and not being at least 60mph. I don't see any reason why, as simple as it is, that it couldn't be driven through by autopilot; and I wish someone would get some real answers as to why it's being driven by actual people.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charly G00R1 says:

nobody said cars can't drive in a tunnel. This makes no sense at all, not economically: having a driver in a luxury car is inefficient as a mass transportation system. Carrying a big battery for a system going around the same trip is innefficient and even bad for the enviroment in comparison to the 150 years old metro system getting it's energy from a rail. Ridiculous.

Honestly, they have this thing in Vietnam called "Grab Bike", you literally order a motorcycle to pick you up and take you somewhere else. You think maybe if nearly every single car is only going to have one passenger, maybe you should just run some motorcycles? Or dude, you could literally just give each person a frigging electric bike and they could literally fly through the tunnel on their own. 😛

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CrashWelder says:

I'm confused. Why do you call it the biggest failure when throughout the video it seems like a great concept that will improve transportation and traffic in Vegas and you yourself seems satisfied and excited by it?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TYPE xxi - WOLF says:

In Europe it would be forbidden at least as it looks like now cause I have not seen emergency or rescue lanes or a rescue tunnel. If that will end in a fire it might burn like hell cause in such loop it is like being in a chimney over the fire place.

62 cars running in circles through a tunnel as a new invention to solve what ?

We have public transportations from busses of metro to trams that connect in a schedule each one to another offered by city and paid by those who use it. You can still ride your car but the prices are exploding , I do not mean fees for the streets, but parking space becomes more and more expensive. our prices are 6 times higher than 30 years ago and since then we had not much inflation.

But 60 cars turning in circles with each one operated by a driver and just barely 1 passenger can not be called really efficient and a big innovation. It looks boring – it is just a private one way street with limited access as it looks like.

No highspeed rain or magnetic train like transrapid, just a car on wheels with a driver like a taxi driver except an electric one which is usual for metros and trams for a century.
OK, it is a tunnel , but like subways those tunnels are nothing new nor do they seem to be fast like a highway, they just offer a ride in a smaller tunnel.

I do not get it, except it is a private road operated to maximise the throughput by offering exits / stations and a lot of cars and drivers. 60 cars would mean a total capacity of 240 seats for passengers riding model 3.
But, it is for sure a tourist attraction and a key marketing trigger to hook people and to make people book such ride.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars evilvet says:

it's a colossal waste of cash..err.. massive handout to elon. a ski lift would be better, cheaper and easier. this is just to promo teslas to tourists. build a horizontal elevator. one accident in those tiny tunnels could cause a massive headache. people driving in reverse, emergency vehicles, etc.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fon D says:

And when an estimated 8 to 10 million poeple lose their jobs to increase the profits for megarich oligarchs, what then. Self driving cars should be outlawed. They dont increase efficiency, they cant drive any faster. In this case it will be another massive boondoggle. Costing taxpayers million. Just like our monorail which was also slated to be expanded to Downton and the airport when it first opened.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jonnyboi530 says:

This is exciting stuff, the awesome solution connection for the strip and downtown. Later in the future they’ll have them on autopilot, then bigger picture is next… underground tunnels throughout the whole city for underground freeways. They’ll probably do that in California first since their traffic is worse. Traffic there is so bad that, that was when the idea was birthed in Elon’s head, while he was stuck in traffic. Hahaha then us Vegas next. We’ll see, exciting times right now.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kobbetop says:

I just realised it’s about a mile (1,6km), why couldn’t you just walk in the tunnel? Less than 30mins and you are there. Or build a series of flat escalators if people are too lazy or not able to walk that distance. It would haul a lot more people than 4 passengers in a Tesla at a time. Tesla world is just something else.
