How can you call Chinese batteries cheap when everything in the u.s comes from China regulation and greed make you have to get everything from China. If those bikes was assembled in the u.s the parts still come from China it just the u.s want 100-200% markup on the retail samsung and apple are cheap Chinese made items. Think about it

This is the kind of riding that makes everyone hate cyclists. Straight through red lights, stopping in crosswalks and riding through pedestrians trying to cross the road. Great job guys 👍
My guess is that cheap E-Bike and scooter/moped battery packs are being imported to local shops catering to delivery people . Most likely without a BMS so it relies on the charger stopping at a certain voltage. Cheap charger fails charging overnight unattended and you can certainly create a fire. Either that or the BMS is very cheap and fails while left charged overnight. In addition if you add on cheap quality construction/welds/insulation then any battery pack can short after enough hard bumps or dropping it even once. There is no delivery person in NYC that does not abuse their E-Bike/E-scooter/E-Moped battery in some form and most E-Vehicles here are used for that purpose.
Biking in NY looks like insanity.
That black bike battery is a ticking bomb
It has fake cells and the cheapest possible bms $4/pice and it doesn't have balancing function
I opened a few and they are all the same ticking bombs

If your diagnosis is cheap batteries does it also apply to teslas that self-combust? Are they using cheap material also. And electric buses where the entire roof from front to back go full blase in about ten seconds or less
They do a lot of advertising for new products, but unfortunately they are getting more and more expensive
