In the previews episode of the Electric Samba Series, we headed down to Solvang, California and we were happy to report that the range of the eSamba is now about 150 miles. It reach it's destination with no issues, however, it didn't make it back home on it's own power. Again, we had to town it back home. In this weeks episode, we delve in the history of our high-powered chargers and what we think went wrong. Also, we'll get into what the plans are for a new charger for our Electric Car. Electric Car. Electric Car Charger. How to convert to electric.

Why does everyone on YouTube think it’s good idea to have annoying music playing when your trying to hear what someone is saying? If your doing information type content there is no need to for music over voice portions. Save it for the intro and then use it only when there is nothing else to hear.
It’s distracting and will cause you to loose peoples attention. I know this is a old video and your new stuff has definitely evolved, and it’s cool to see how much you have progressed in this time. My favorite content by far.

Jehu why don't you get a js1772 receptacle and output the two 120v hot leads coming out of it into two separate standard Lifepo4 battery charger in parallel that take the AC and convert it to DC (and also have preset lifepo4 charge parameters). There's a company that makes this receptacle with built in electronics to work with EV charge station. Why does it have to be an EV specific type of charger if ultimately you're simply charging lifepo4 cells.

  3. Anyone knows some open source DC-DC charging solution to plug the DIY EV into public CCS chargers? For my 2nd DIY EV project I urgently search for one. Yurop/Germany 🙂 As far as I know the public chargers use around 400V DC, I need to get this down to 100V with charging curve for Tesla modules.

    link to the charger ?

Ponlo en aceite, y usa un circuito cerrado de agua para refrigerarlo men. Ponlo estratificado, con la tubería de cobre al fondo. De esa forma si hay una fuga de agua se ira al fondo y puedes drenarlo.

Be careful with placing metal around those coils, as it may change the inductance of those coils. It could change the frequency of the circuit.

High current Capacitors are very dangerous, you are not suppose to work with high current capacitor’s without protection. It can kill you

They should make the board a little bigger, maker easier for air flow. They could try using gan switches vs igbt then they can switch faster and decrease the inductor size and weight by half. It's Abit challenge but this is open source after all. Suggest use fan when charging to help the charger last longer. The inductor I assume gets the hottest

I wonder why Transformer is submerged in oil and then cool is it easier better conductor to prevent short out avoid corrosive liquid 🤔

Is there a follow-up video on open source charger?

Can anybody explain the difference between a charge station, EVSE, and a charger? I think I almost understand. I am almost sure a charge station=EVSE, gets installed on the wall and has a J1772 cable that extends to the car’s receptacle. Inside the car goes the charger (and nothing else should be called a charger), getting power from the receptacle, and is directly connected to the battery. Am I right? I am not sure if the charge station/EVSE transforms, converts, rectifies or boosts the household power to anything else, but it is at least there for safety, only allowing power through when an electric car requests it through the communication pins.

what about solar charge while driving? like having two separate modules and charge one while using other one. and wice versa. or use generator hooked to wheel to charge it. ?

I have been watching your videos for the last few days. Thank you for taking the time to make these. As a travel vlogger, I understand the time it takes to put together a nice presentation. This is great info, delivered it a digestible way. I have gotten a lot out of it. Thank you!
