This week we discuss the possibility of developing our very own lithium ion battery pack out of recycled laptop battery cells, Thats right, 18650s just like the Tesla model S. We will attempt to make a 40kw battery pack out of 4600 Sanyo UR18650FM cells, Why? well, watch the video.

@ jehugarcia, I have founda source of brand new 18650 cells 2200mA for cheap, my question is 1. would i be better off still getting the recyled batterys that may have a slightly higher mA like in your video or being brand new, would i be better off buying the new cells? hope that makes sense.

You are essential. Praise. It'll all fall into line eventually becoming unthinkable to imagine a battery of that quality will be forgone.  Passed up into automotive is pretty good too.  Some people over at SV Seeker feel like they're really in need of a glance of yours; it might be your sort of off-the-cuff type of knowledge.

i want to build a tesla power wall type set up – are the lenovo laptop batteries in the link the best to buy? and how many years might they last as dont the die completely after some time?

How come that you don't for example buy 4 new 9900mAh for 6$? That's 1.5$ per cell and 0.15$/Ah compared to 0.25$/cell yielding 0.10$/Ah. I know it's a price difference, but you save some of the hazzle and I guess you cant get the used batteries at 0.25$/cell all the time? Also, you need only one fourth of the batteries in your powerwall 🙂
