Good video.. I did observe however, that in the CT scan of the typical 18650 cell, you said the bottom layer stays down while the top pushes up… but in the scan it appears both layers are pushed up.. no?

The cars bursting into flames.Guess what folks this is what they want to make law to put into your car Volkswagen doesn't want to do it because they are changing the coolant to R1234fy highly flammable and poisoning as well in a leak or crash are they trying to kill us???? Tesla Model S is suppose to have this coolant!

Tesla batteries are also used in a power bank, with non-conductive liquid cooling, unlike your laptop where you are likely to find LG cells, or a vacuum cleaner. You are not likely to see heat in a tesla battery when it is being used in the right application, like a car. Also, you should compare maximum capacity and amperage draw if you really want to compare the safety between two cells. Maybe it doesn't need safety features like that. Cutting it in half does not show quality at all of a cell.

Is that Mt Diablo in the opening drone shot?

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Smith says:

It depends on the chemistry. If the chemistry is safe enough then the cell can stay dead shorted and it will be able to vent fast enough safely without risk of fire or explosion. We would need to actually test the failure mode of the cells to make sure. Dead short a fully charged cell for us sometime and put it to the test. (STAY SAFE!)
