Yeah, I build solar battery trailers for motor RV'S and smaller sprinter type vans. Haven't had a request yet for just extending a vehicles battery. Man, you should come out to Tucson to see our demo model.

If I built a range extending trailer, I would put a 32hp v-twin engine, running on natural gas. It would run a generator that could output the SAME or slightly higher voltage as the batteries, and if possible enough amperage to run the vehicle without the help of the batteries, and still have left over amperage for charging the batteries. The 32hp engine would be setup to run at it's peak performance so that it would run at a set rpm or controlled by a computer like a Raspberry Pi based on exhaust gases. The generator side of it could then run the vehicle when going down the road. Also a slightly bigger trailer, batteries where yours are, but also setup as a popup camper trailer design to expand sleeping areas (batteries under the floor).
