I pulled a handful of various 18650s out of my drawer from like 5+ years ago. Some samsung, sonyo, chinese crap… They all were 4.2v….
So if it's in decent condition, it shouldn't lose any charge. Bad or old cells may lose some charge over time. If it is losing charge, generally not a good sign

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A says:

You can't simply measure the voltage of a li-ion cell to determine it's capacity. They can lose some capacity with little or no change in the voltage

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Theseus says:

what abou one year later?? i know that li-po should not stay charged

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Valentin Popa says:

So did lose voltage after 4 years?

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ismail Ozcelik says:

7 to 10 years can cıkabilir all the batteries that I want to use for a long time seviorum that I do. therefore. the house is for use.m.

discharge rate depends on the health state of the cell, the temperature, the initial voltage and some more.
Fabric new cells at optimal storage rate voltage (around 3,6 V) stored in cold temperature have a minimum discharge rate of about 2 % / year.
When you store it fully loaded at room temperature it may loose 10% or more a year (and tend to loose capacity as well).

My rescued cells from old laptop battery loose a few mV each weak, depending on their age and health state.
The really bad ones discharge around 20 mV per week, the better ones only 1-3 mV. When they where really deeply discharged (below 2,3 V) they loose a lot of charge quickly – not worth collecting! Indeed they are dangerous and can suddenly overheat and ignite / explode!

a cuantos amperios descargo la batería

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fiztgerald Duarte says:

I try to do here in Colombia, but it is very difficult .please tell me how many amps should I download batteries, to know and place your capacity.

Hello Jehu, just bought at electronic fair 12 Lenovo battery packs for 10 euro.
Every one 9 cells. At this time i checked 27 batteries: They are all around 3.60-3.90 volts.
How is possible? Thy are suppose to be faulty packs!

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NetRolller3D says:

If you see self-discharge in a Li-ion, throw it away, as it's failing.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ProGunNL says:

    Cool, looking towards it!

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bob O`Bob says:

Once you've put the meter on it a few times, you can't really call any losses "self" discharge.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pete McWade says:

I've seen voltages pretty much remain exactly the same for large format prismatic cells left on the shelf. But when capacity checked there is some loss of capacity. But for sitting voltages you really don't see much of anything. Maybe you would see a small voltage drop with the smaller capacity cells over time. I don't think you will see much of a drop in a month or more. Maybe in a year. Maybe. Capacity will be lost over time. That is a known item already.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hubz caps says:

im only refering to folded packs.!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hubz caps says:

yes they do….by about 7 percent over a 4 week storage. common for large packs
