lately i been wanting to learn how do do this and been wanting to build something. im JUST starting. helped clean a hoarders house which had 2 kobalt 80V lawn mower batteries which never saw use and degraded just sitting in that rate hole. of the 40 cells i got 20 in good "physical" condition.
before i even bother testing charger discharging ( and buying all the relevant equipment) i need to start stocking up to make it worth my time. any suggestions for where i can acquire sources? this weekend im going to ask around at local Lowes/Home depots and see if they are willing to allow me to give some of these battery packs a second life.
if i understand correctly…. the idea is when using lowest (say 2K) and largest ( say 3K) 2K-3K-2K-3K-2K so on so on you end up with a avg of 2.5K. once you get to your last module idealy you end up with a module of 2.4/2.5/2.6's that will hopefully again avg at 2.5?
Say I want to build a 6S 4P and I have different old cells with different capacity groups off laptops, which ones do I add for the series groups and which ones for the parallel groups ? Meaning is it more important that the capacity is closer in the series groups or in the parallel groups?
I've found great project for that on Avasva website.
You sir are a legend
the skateboards belt is stripped or too loose. had that before and bought new ones. it happens when you give it a hit of power too sudden too often… but anyhow, just saying. mine is 900W
so what combo should i be looking at.. specifically regarding the 4s/2s part listed on batteries? ive been seeing a lot that have that designation of some sort… if im not mistaken its like… the discharge rate? so..what is good for a power wall concept
Oh, and what are your thoughts on the new Tesla 2170 cell with 60% more storage per cell.
Are there any ready made fuses and wiring in a plastic cap so you could throw a pack together in minutes? And not have to do any wiring or soldering? Would be an industry disrupting idea. Probably patent and copyright issues.
Jehu …. I wish I knew you were at the NAB …. I was there as well
I am planing on converting a land rover series 2 LWB to electric so would it be better to put the motor (AC75) on to the gear box or to put the motor straight to the diff like you did to the jeep?

Do you have a video on charge/life cycles? I was reading if you charge a 18650 to 4.2v, the typical estimated life is 300 to 500 charge cycles, but if you charge at around 3.9v, you can get 2,000 cycles out of them. Was looking for some real life experience/opinion on it.
should I wait for a better batteries coming out in the future
