that is massive, i hope it woerkd well , i would love that magnum inverter. hope its still available, i agree with the car being more impressive but i would stil love a magnasine
I love how they got that beautiful blue transformer/inductor, right next to that crusty looking rusty transformer lmao
AC systems are only grounded by choice. Makes sense to just stick that negative wire in the ground to ground the system. Also similar to a car chassis being grounded.
How did it go with this project
I realy can use some of this batteries
I repair industrial inverter a great difference from home inverter
The two white blocks are high voltage high current contactors
with energiser coils on the side
The last one is a inductor filter.
The difference between the two inverter can be pictured easily by thinking about engines. A 500hp 3.0l V6 engine from a fast family saloon/sedan may have the same power output as a big diesel engine in a 28ton truck but you definitely can't use an Audi RS6 engine in a heavy hauling truck pulling 30tons of cargo
can this be converted to single phase
Thanks for the fantastic video! I really like to watch such devices, technological solutions, etc.
It came to my mind to answer your question about the difference in size between these devices.
Well, size is a derivative of many things.
The large inverter is built with IGBT technology, and you can see very large IGBTs as well as huge capacitors are used. Probably they do not have a large capacity, probably up to several hundred uF, but they have very low ESR, conduct huge currents, must be well cooled and must work for many years.
A lot of space in the wardrobe allows for easy replacement and assessment of damaged elements. The cabinet is designed to be installed near a solar farm, it needs to be remotely controlled by this huge three-phase contactor.
The inverter must have appropriate power supply connections for IGBT modules and power connections – this takes up a lot of space and must meet industry standards.
This type of device is also to ensure the best quality of the current supplied to the network, which is indirectly ensured by these huge coils at the bottom – they are used to extinguish the voltage spikes and store and return energy from IGBT modules, which work in PWM mode, probably around 20kHz.
The device is subject to professional supervision of electricians, so it must meet the standards, including safety. This all explains the size of this 100kW solar inverter.
A car inverter does not need to have almost any of these features. This 80kW, if I remember correctly, the one you show at the end, when it breaks down, do you know what you can do with it? 😉 And that is the huge difference between these inverters.
Besides, I think that advances in SiC MOSFET technology will change everything. From such a cabinet it will be possible to achieve 10MW soon, not a paltry 100kW.
So…. ! Did that project got connected and working some where ????
