Hi how did you manage the brake fluid when you transform one car to EV cause normally the bake need engine?
Cool I love them!! may be will help with the efficiency?? we wait when you test them on roadtrip…
@jehugarcia I have recently discovered your channel, and subscribed great stuff !! Peace and love from London, UK
Also, swap the hoses for braided lines. For the vanagon a BMW brakebooster fits as a popular upgrade. Might be something for the t1 available.
Fix your original brakes first to a proper standard and get good brakepads. Nothing wrong with drums, only drawback is that they fade earlier due to heat. Most drums brakes have great stopping power. Just renew them and clean them properly. I could lose my teeth in my vanagon if im not carefull.
Do you have a direct link to these? Or maybe they don't have them for the public yet? I don't see them on their website. Thanks
Looks really fantastic, and also like brake jobs are gonna be a bitch. Although, probably not so bad as doing drums.
Hi. From an engineering point would the cost ($) of adding regen on the front is prohibitive?
Or would the extra weight outstrip the gains?
I found your video very ggoood.
hey jehu! what exactly is the cost for the willwood break setup, the link just takes to website but has different variations of setups! can you link directly to your setup!
Who makes a drive system with 350 ft lbs of torque? Thinking about a project.
Jehu… This kit make no necessary to change the spindle? Usually, to convert to disk brakes it is.
Did you get to keep/convert to power breaks with the electric conversion?
Did you change the proportioning valve or put one in? The front/rear brake balance is probably going to be different with discs. I wouldn't want you to stomp on the brakes and have the bus swap ends because the rears locked up.
When you're running an electric vehicle every bit of friction counts correct? Friction in your motors friction in your bearings or in this case drag in your brakes, will lower your maximum distance correct/battery life?
Those disc brakes you have, Wilwood are junk. You do not know me from a hole in the wall, but I'm a former mechanical engineer that has built motorcycles worked on cars and definitely knows a a thing or two about brakes. Look up the company called TBM brakes. They are the only company I have seen that supplies true dragless/frictionless brake systems. They're well designed and American made in Southern California.Wilwood farms their junk out to China. But that is beside the point, they have videos showing wheel setups with absolutely zero drag when you release the pedal. I guarantee you will not find that with your current setup. As a side note your pad life will be substantially longer with TBM. I do not work for them I just know quality when I see it. Watch the video of the gravedigger locking the front brakes and doing an endo. Wilwood just has good publicity
I wonder if a regenerative breaking system for older cars would be possible
