Catch it and turn it sideways (90 degree) and it shut off on it's own. Great video.
you get harmonys on the water i guess…..this can reduce the signal……. and in the car is the roof the problem……iron i guess
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's either something wrong with your drone or your phone. Hopefully, it's a settings or storage issue. I promise you though, your experience is not typical. Since the SD card footage is perfect, I'm leaning toward the problem being with your phone.

I have the Mavic Air and I've flown 2 miles with parabolics on it, never had a problem?
The problem at the side of the road might have been that you were in a metal car. You should have had an antenna outside the car. Also,there would be interference even in a desert because there are no mountain or trees to block radio waves. Any signal there would be spread across the whole desert.

Noisy is kind of good with the air being so small cause I can't see it very well and the sound helps me a lot lol .
Were both of these issues within line of sight? Just wondering because since I've owned my Air I've only flown in line of sight because it's so small .

you are inside a car and that desert places are full of frequency tests made by the government… and the soil are full of minerals who sucks signal, not easy sometimes get desired footages.
Did your vehicle have a WiFi hotspot? This can desense the front end of your cell phone. Some of the issues that I see may also be antenna pattern related. BTW, Bill says hello. (From Hot VW)
