8) Why not use Supercapacitors?
A. Batteries work better at this time, caps are rare and expensive devices that are very good at doing things not needed for storage systems typically.

Actually All of the Gas and Oil originated from the Sun. The Suns energy was stored in Plant Life and it just took time for it to become Oil and Gas.
Is there anyone who done 800v 20Ah using Li Ion?
Can I send you photos of my off-grid emergency lights?
*The lights are portable
*mostly plug & play
*Off-the-shelf parts
*Inexpensive
*Long service life between re-charges
I'm planning a modification to increase the time between recharge to 5X.
I've been off-grid for six years and two days.
It's been learn or die for me.
Jehu, I'm interested I your diy lithium battery module which is sold out from your website and I found the Gerber file is not complete…
Pack looks great, but how are you going to Ballance it?
rip the inverter apart en mount the chps to a rail and water cool them that way
any chance you could do a review on SimpliPhi Lithium Ferro Phosphate Battery and maybe do a tear down comparison to the 18650s ?
As new subscribers go, I subscribed yesterday when I found your channel because I was watching the Rich Rebuilds video on Motherboard and was linked to your video next.
Could you please do a video where you explain difference between Lifepo4 and LTO batteries?
Thanks for alot of good videos!
Just discovered and love your channel, first time commenting…. so I think I have the answer to your question at ~18 min…
As I understand it, other than not putting power back to the grid for lineman safety, the reason why grid-tie inverters shut down when the grid is off is that they are "current sources" rather than 'Voltage sources".
Next two paragraphs from Wikipedia:
"Most sources of electrical energy (the mains, a battery) are modeled as voltage sources. An ideal voltage source provides no energy when it is loaded by an open circuit (i.e. an infinite impedance), but approaches infinite energy and current when the load resistance approaches zero (a short circuit). Such a theoretical device would have a zero ohm output impedance in series with the source. A real-world voltage source has a very low, but non-zero internal resistance & output impedance: often much less than 1 ohm.
Conversely, a current source provides a constant current, as long as the load connected to the source terminals has sufficiently low impedance. An ideal current source would provide no energy to a short circuit and approach infinite energy and voltage as the load resistance approaches infinity (an open circuit). An ideal current source has an infinite output impedance in parallel with the source. A real-world current source has a very high, but finite output impedance. In the case of transistor current sources, impedance of a few megohms (at low frequencies) is typical."
For example, with a grid-tie system if you turn on a clean inverter, it should fool the grid-tie inverter into thinking the grid is up and your panels should start outputting power. I'm a novice, but it seems the problem is regulating the power out of grid-tied inverter. When you're hooked up to a grid there's practicaly an infinite source for them to dump into so no problem. When the grid is off there's no where for excess power to go, so a current source with excess power jacks up the voltage until something gives.
The common way around this is to use an AC coupled system (e.g., Magnum, Schneider, Outback) they shift the AC frequency out of their inverter to signal back to the microinverter to throttle back it's power. Even then, you need somewhere for the power to go when a big load (air conditioning) suddenly turns off while the inverter throttles back, which is why Outback recommends diversion equipment (e.g., a water heater). DC coupling doesn't have this problem but requires batteries and charge controllers. Magnum and SMA can control their inverters to where they don't need diversion (other than batteries), and according to their 2017 announcement, the 2019 Enphase IQ8 can provide power if the grid is down too.
Can we get coffee sometime?
so you say your bus gets a hundred and fifty miles how much did it cost to buy put the motor and the batteries and how many miles did you get out of that cost and motor for those batteries so what did you pay for the survey if you were to buy them brand new and how many miles would you receive out of these batteries before you want to get rid of them that's the price we don't know what we never figure out you say it's cheaper and it's a cool thing it made you famous them all but did it actually is it cheaper than buying gas if it's not cheaper than buying gas what's the point of doing it unless you can get the stuff cheap it's not fair for you powerwall and having it be used during your peak hours of energy do you save money so there's my question so if you need to use your energy bill and the bed the whole purpose of buying a Powerball is to save money correct not to basically buy it and barely get any use out of it so it'll run your air conditioner you're going to need something in one room what air conditioner in the house requires 15 hours a day how do you produce that that much power on your wall you have to have a wall that has 18 to run the actual power wall for 5 or 6 wire so you can basically not be charged peak-hour money
