All right Time to talk about batteries. Let's fix one of these awesome batteries. Today we are gonna talk about the 60 Cell 9 Bot half a kilowatt battery scooter battery and if you know anything about these, these are awesome. But their BMS is locked software locked so you can't use it.
They only work for like 10 seconds and they shut themselves off. So in order to fix that, Bam We made this little guy here. This is a BMS replacement which you should be able to put in there very easily. Let me show you how to do it.
This video is sponsored by PCB Way where I share all my projects and you can download all the Pcbs to make this project come true. Okay first you have to take the battery apart until you get it down like this, right? Just take all the screws off on the covers. I Can There are two different models of these batteries. one with two connectors, one on each side like this and then one with a single connector.
This replacement. This replacement right here works with both. There's the double connectors right here and then there is the single and in the same board. You should be able to put this in here and be able to put it in here today.
We're going to do this one right, but this one is the same thing. You just connected into the one main one. You start by disconnecting the cables so that nothing shorts out on you. Now the BMS is off.
Take two screws off. Next, you cut the the red wire here and then the black wire and then the BMS comes right off. You have to cut these wires over here too. Next, what you'll have to do is strip the wires.
the red and the black. Be careful, don't touch anything else while you're touching those because they might. Arc So next, you install this guy in here here. make sure you don't pinch the wires.
and then here's the other. Next, you connect the black wire and the red wire in here and you don't have to solder anything. You just have to pull back the screw and then tighten it. Now the black one.
next the wires. So this is a six pin goes in here. The little Mark there is that that goes in there. Then okay and there.
the wires connected. So the two little lines go towards the bottom of this board. right? So next to Uh to wake up this BMS you might have to apply power into the charging port. Okay, in our case, we just plugged in this meter here and it's on so we didn't have to do that, but sometimes those are off and what you have to do is you have to apply a current.
Uh, Power 42 volts in here right from a charger. So finally, you put it back in the box here, put this little thing in there, and then put the screws around and then put the other cap in here and then put the screws on the outside. so there you go. Okay, now that you know how to fix these batteries, go ahead, use one and add 35 miles more to your E-bike or build this 12 kilowatt hour power wall so you can power your entire home in future videos I will show you more in depth and in detail how to do both of these as the power wall and adding a bunch of more range to to your E-bike right, so stay tuned for those. I Want to thank you for watching this video. We'll see you guys on the next one. By the way, you discharge it through this port and you charge it through this port just like you did on the original battery. Also, this project is open source I Took a long time to design this board I tried many, many different ways.
There's many iterations of this and and finally I want to make it public and all you have to do is go to Pcbway.com where you can download the file and then print it in your favorite PCB Premium House in China or you can just purchase it it at Pcbway.com In the project page, there's also a link to all the individual components that you will need to finish this entire project right? Also, if you just don't want to do that, we also have these already made at Jack35.com There's a link down in the description and you can just, uh, purchase it from us and then you can just follow the video. You saw how easy it was to do this and then you have a working battery. I Want to thank PCB way for sponsoring this video and we'll see you guys on the next video. Bye This is the very devil for teachers because you see all our universities and schools are trying to teach creativity.
That's the great thing these days, you know, and you hear it. The Excellent: Uh. both of the people are giving courses and workshops and creativity. Now the trouble is this: if we found out a method whereby we could teach creativity and everybody could just explain how it was done, it would no longer be of interest.
What always is an essential element in the creative is the mysterious, the dark that's like the black and lacquer, the impenetrable and yet the the profound death out of which glorious things come, but nobody can see why. Feel perfectly free to make mistakes. That you everybody's going to make some mistakes and it doesn't matter if you make a mistake. And if you do make a mistake, uh, don't don't go back and do it over again.
but just go on.
36v powerwall? most inverters are 12, 24 or 48 volt. What equipment are you using for a 36v battery bank?
i have a lot of channels subbed with cool shit , but you are getting better each year with your content dude ! , just great to see all of your work 🙂 greets
So, if you buy the tested and confirmed to be working battery, along with the fully assembled BMS replacement, you'll have a 36v, 550wh battery for right around $100. That's only 18 cents a watt-hour, which is really cheap for extending the range on an e-bike. Also, for folks out there wanting batteries for marine applications, 36-12 buck converters are a cheap and easy way to put these 2nd-life scooter batteries to work for you.
Brother you always the best 👍
I have one qoustion if possible you make one video on that
Qoustion is – can we combine Grid-tie inverter with off-grid inverter without input the city grid is that will work ?
Thank you if you discuss about that in your next video
Best regards from Philippines 🇵🇭☕☕
I'm looking forward to the power wall
Cool power-wall! I definitely want to get more into batteries. Side note, I think I saw you driving around town by Vince’s. Lol
can you make a 72 volt version on video and how to do it please with two packs . i would buy it because i have many many projects that will be needing 72 volts version and or 96v
🎉
I’m really interested in that power wall build! When will this video come out? 😬😬
I'm confused by your shop listing. Do the working/tested already come with your new BMS installed? The photo in the description of the cells shows the new bms setup.
⚡👀⚡
need some shipping uk help me jehugarcia
Nice 👍 that's so cool. Why is the original BMS on sleep mode?
I wish there was a PCBWay 30yrs ago when i was designing and building circuits on a perf board.
Looks like a nice battery system with your BMS mod!👍
Anyone have any experience with multiple of these packs? What cells are inside? I'm interested but if they are M26 for sure then I'm out.
I have a ninebot 48v 56.4v peak tower battery. I wanted to know what advice can you give me to get this battery to work for my ebike build? I would sent a picture of the power connection but im not sure how to do that
Man it’d be nice to strap a couple of those in a 20s config to my e-Moto build. Too bad NOBODY will ship any batteries to Hawaii!
